Converting Scanned Documents Into Editable Text

You can scan a document and exchange the text into data that you can edit with a word processing program. This swear out is called OCR (Optic Character Recognition). To scan and use OCR, you need to use an OCR platform, such as the ABBYY FineReader program.

OCR software cannot recognize written characters, and certain types of documents or text edition are difficult for OCR software to recognize, such as:

Items that have been copied from other copies

Faxes

Text with tightly spaced characters or line pitch

Text that is in tables or underlined

Longhand OR italic fonts, and baptismal font sizes less than 8 points

Windows: Select OR Start > All Programs or Programs > ABBYY FineReader 6.0 Sprint > ABBYY FineReader 6.0 Sprint.

Mac OS X: Open the Applications > ABBYY FineReader 5 Sprint Plus folders and double-click the Launch FineReader 5 Sprint icon.

You see the ABBYY FineReader window.

Then select Black&White or Color as the Envision Case, and choose Printer or Early as your Destination place setting. Preview and blue-ribbon your scan area as delineated in Previewing and Adjusting the Run down Area. And then click Scan. Your document is scanned, vulcanised into editable text, and opened in the FineReader window.

In Office Mode, pick out Coloring material, Grayscale, or Black&White as the Image Typewrite and Document Table as the Document Source. Select the size of your original document every bit the size setting, and 300 dpi every bit the Resolution. If you are using Home or Professional Mode, see Adjusting the Color and Other Image Settings for instructions. If you are using Office Mode, click the Assist button in the Epson Rake windowpane for operating instructions.
